Sandi Haber Fifield studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles and the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York, and received her MFA in photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She currently lives and works in Westport, Connecticut.
Luck is from the series After the Threshold, in which Haber Fifield combines images gathered from disparate locales and moments of experience to create multi-panel compositions. In ensembles that mix abstraction, appropriation, fragmentation, and an air of the exotic, “formal connections reveal themselves and suggest the reassuring possibility of meaning and order in the apparent randomness of experience.”
Haber Fifield has exhibited internationally and has published three monographs. Her photographs are in many notable public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; George Eastman House; the Brooklyn Museum; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta. Works from the After the Threshold series comprise her most recent book, published by Kehrer Verlag in 2013. She is represented by galleries in New York City and Boston.
