THE WOMEN'S COMMITTEE OF THE PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM OF ART is pleased to announce its first Photography Portfolio Competition. The competition was open to all photographers age 18 or over. The jury of nationally recognized experts have selected one photograph from each of six artists for inclusion in a 16" x 20" portfolio to be published in an edition of 25 in fall 2010. Peter Barberie, The Brodsky Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, has selected one additional curator's choice entry to be sold as an individual print in a limited edition.

The response to the competition was wonderful and has brought many talented photographers to the attention of the Museum's curatorial staff. With the Portfolio we hope to introduce the work of the selected artists to both experienced and new collectors. The Portfolio is available for purchase in a limited edition of twenty-five boxed copies at a cost of $3,600 each. The limited-edition single print is $500. JURORS

Jurors included noted photographer Tina Barney; Melissa Harris, Editor-in-Chief, Aperture Magazine; and Peter Barberie, The Brodsky Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The Museum will exhibit the portfolio and the individual print in fall 2010, and an event will be held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to celebrate the production of the portfolio.
